Mass Union of Public Housing Tenants Policy Board announces the 2018 Annual fall Convention October 6, 2018 in norwood, ma

The Mass Union of Public Housing Tenants Policy Board and Staff would like to announce its 2018 Fall Convention will take place on October 6, 2018.  This event will be hosted at the Four Point Hotel, 1125 Providence Turnpike, Norwood MA

Convention Theme: Vote to keep our homes affordable

With help from Mass Union and affiliates we were able to change the way public housing is managed. New state regulations including a new rent regulation are being drafted requiring residents to partner with management. Every housing authority in Massachusetts is mandated to have a resident seat on the board of commissioners chosen by the residents. DHCD and US HUD encourages resident elected tenant councils and building partnerships with housing management.
The federal and state public housing residents need to understand their decision-making roles as advisors to their housing authority. US HUD plans to raise rents to 35% in federsl family public housing and elderly public housing rents will be increased in six years.
DHCD will speak about the progress in building affordable housing for low income Massachusetts residents.

NOW is the time to start planning for the Fall Convention.
Schedule your request for funding at your Local Housing Authority (LHA) or plan a Fundraising event to help cover the cost of the convention. Now is the time to come together and discover how you can voice your concerns and protect your homes. We need every affiliate to participate in advocating for funding federal and state public housing programs.
